UCI Beall Applied Innovation’s internal magazine, Rising Tide, recently received the Gold Award for “Print Media Magazine for Educational Institution” category in the MarCom Awards Competition, an international competition for communications professionals.

MarCom Awards recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and web materials and programs. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

The MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. With more than 6,500 entries from 18 countries in the competition, the Gold Award is granted to entries that exceed the high standards of the industry norm.

“From the first issue in January to our latest this past November, watching this publication grow and take form through our amazingly talented team is a true privilege,” said Jackie Connor, Rising Tide’s editor-in-chief. “And to receive an award for all of our hard work makes it even better. I’m so lucky to work with our designers, writers, interns and leadership. It’s truly a team effort.”

Launched this January 2019, Rising Tide shares news about UCI’s most commercially promising technologies, innovative startup companies, faculty researchers, recent events and entrepreneurial resources available at Applied Innovation, the Cove and the Orange County community. The publication uses dynamic storytelling, energetic design and compelling imagery in addition to collaboration both on and off campus to drive readership.
