UC Irvine (UCI) researchers now have an easier way to submit records of invention (ROIs) to UCI Beall Applied Innovation’s Research Translation Group (RTG).

When UCI’s researchers have an idea that has the potential to be commercialized by a startup or existing company, they can simply fill out the record of invention disclosure form and email it to myIDEA@uci.edu. This new email account goes directly to RTG, where it will be assigned a licensing officer who will begin the evaluation process.

“By using myidea@uci.edu, researchers have a single place they can submit records of inventions to our office and ensure it is reviewed in a timely manner,” said Casie Kelly, assistant director of Licensing at UCI Beall Applied Innovation.

RTG is made up of over a dozen licensing officers and staff with backgrounds in law, engineering, life sciences, physical sciences and more. They provide a complete suite of capabilities related to managing inventions, including evaluating invention disclosures, patenting and licensing new innovations and connecting industry partners with relevant opportunities. RTG is dedicated to making sure UCI’s discoveries produce the most real-world impact possible.

The new form submission process, in addition to the other services and resources available at the Cove @ UCI, is part of Applied Innovation’s mission to support innovators, both on and off campus. Through providing a vast array of resources in a central location and with easy access, Applied Innovation allows the minds behind Southern California’s groundbreaking technologies to focus on what they do best.
