Privacy Policy and Use of Information
Personal Information
The information we collect from you depends on how you interact with our websites and connected applications. In general, we collect personal information when you provide it to us, or it is collected automatically. You may provide us personal information when you subscribe to our newsletter, request materials, register for an event, answer surveys, fill out forms or when you sign in as a visitor at our offices. Information collected automatically through connected applications may include your general location, operating system, industry, pages viewed and buttons clicked.

  • Other UC locations or departments: Other UC locations or departments in order to provide you with a UC Service or where it is in UC’s legitimate interests.
  • Service Providers: Vendors that need access to your Personal Data in order to provide UC Irvine Services.
  • Public and Governmental Authorities: Entities that regulate or have jurisdiction over UC such as regulatory authorities, law enforcement, public bodies, and judicial bodies.
  • Corporate Transactions: A third party in connection with any proposed or actual reorganization, merger, sale, joint venture, assignment, transfer or other disposition of all or any portion of UC’s business.

If your Personal Data is shared with a third party, UC will require that the third party use appropriate measures to protect the confidentiality and security of your Personal Data.

Social Media
When you’ve previously provided or have opted to receive communications from us, we may use your interactions with us on social media, combined with information we already have about you to develop more targeted content. Our social media marketing tool Sprout Social may retain details of your publicly available social media handle.
Cookies
When you visit our web sites, you may be issued a “cookie,” which helps track your session while online. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive. Among other things, cookies help to make your site visit more relevant and personalized for you. We use cookies to see which programs and pages are popular and to count visits to our sites. Retention:
UC will only retain your Personal Data for the duration necessary for the data collection purposes identified above, unless there is a legal requirement to maintain it for a longer period.
